Interview to SIMONE ZAMBONI
Mechanical maintenance technician at Sikel Impianti S.r.l. and motorcycle racer
Simone, tell us about your career with the Demont Group
I started my career at Demont in 2021 as a mechanical maintenance technician in Vado Ligure (SV). Then, I moved to the Sarpom construction site in Quiliano (SV), which belongs to the Sikel Impianti subsidiary. The passion for motorcycles has always been a part of me and this move has had a positive impact on both my professional development and my sporting career.
Can you tell us about your journey in the motorcycle world?
The passion for motorcycles runs in my family; both my grandparents and my father raced motorcycles. I started at the age of six with mini-motos and progressed through the various categories, reaching important milestones. However, a serious accident and the high costs of racing made me think that my sporting career was over, until an opportunity for redemption presented itself.
How did the collaboration between the Demont Group and Crazy Monkeys, your team, come about?
At the Sarpom construction site I met Stefano, a colleague and motorcycle enthusiast, who decided to introduce me to the management of Demont Group. Thanks to our shared passion for motorcycles and the trust placed in me by recognizing my potential, Sikel Impianti and Demont S.r.l. proposed themselves as my official sponsors, allowing me to realize my dream of getting back on the track.
You achieved excellent results during this season. What were the challenges you faced and what are your goals for the future?
I am currently racing pit bikes. I just finished the “12 Inch Italian Cup” 2024, where I finished second in the final standings and also won some races. This qualified me for the European Championship, which will be held soon at the Franciacorta circuit. It has been a challenging season, but the constant support of the company, which has always believed in me, has been crucial.
What are the common threads that connect your work and your passion?
There are many common values between my sport and the company I work for. Both on the construction site and on the track, I feel part of a team that recognizes my value and supports me. Moreover, tenacity and commitment are essential to achieve both sporting and professional goals.
