The journey towards excellence in nuclear power continues: Marco Ricotti returns to Demont for a deeper insight into new generation plants

Millesimo, Friday July 19th, 2024 – Marco Ricotti, full professor of nuclear plants at the Politecnico di Milano, President of the CIRTEN Consortium and coordinator of the working group on Small Modular Reactors (SMR) of the IAEA, held the second seminary on Small Modular Reactors.
More than 20 Demont colleagues attended the event, including representatives from the engineering, purchasing, workshop and project management sectors and distinguished former employees with important experience in the nuclear field.
As well as providing a 360-degree overview of nuclear technologies, particular emphasis was placed on the major aspects of safety and security, and a rundown of the many international projects currently under development – aimed at the implementation of Third and Fourth generation SMR – was presented. In this regard, if – outside the EU – Russia, China and South Korea have made significant investments in these sectors with important results in terms of construction, Italy, thanks to its ability to produce individual components, continues to hold an essential strategic position in the whole continent for their supply.
For Demont, which is part of the potential supply chain for small modular reactors illustrated in the brochure of the Politecnico di Milano (brochure-Italian-Nuclear-Supply-Chain4SMR.pdf (polimi.it)), it is essential to keep up with the new trends in the field of energy production.
