Demont Brings STEM to Schools: an Authentic Dialogue between Students and Female Professionals

On April 24th and May 12th, Demont met with second-year middle school classes at the Istituto Comprensivo Lele Luzzati (Cengio, Millesimo, and Calizzano campuses) for an initiative dedicated to career guidance and the promotion of STEM skills. The sessions featured six female colleagues from the Engineering and Quality department, who shared their educational paths and professional experiences with the students.

The students had prepared a series of questions in advance which our colleagues answered in a direct and practical way, sharing their own curiosities, challenges, satisfactions, and useful advice for those beginning to chart their path toward the future. The initiative aimed to bring young people – and girls in particular – closer to technical-scientific paths, demonstrating through real-world examples that STEM professions are accessible, exciting, and full of opportunities.

The meetings sparked great interest: the students asked questions about how to choose a high school, what skills are needed to work in the technical field, what a typical day at the company is like, and what opportunities the local area offers.

The company will continue to promote orientation activities and school visits, firmly believing that direct contact with industry professionals is a fundamental tool for helping young people make informed choices, free from stereotypes.

This activity is part of the initiatives promoted by the company under UNI/PdR 125, the reference practice for gender parity.

We would like to thank our colleagues Rebecca Cagno, Margherita Palmato, Giorgia Rebagliati, Giulia Rebagliati, and Manuela Zunino for their participation.
