Demont Srl: a Local Opportunity for Female Employment and “STEM” education

As part of a corporate culture increasingly sensitive to gender equality and the valorization of diversity, Demont Srl, confirming the commitment undertaken with the achievement of the UNIPDR 125:2022 certification, is actively dedicated to promoting job opportunities for the female gender.
Margherita Palmato, recently hired in the Demont’s Engineering department, fits into a context that recognizes the value of women in the world of work, particularly in the metalworking sector.

I: “Margherita, you graduated with honors from the Istituto di istruzione superiore “Federico Patetta” – Indirizzo Meccanico Meccatronico di Cairo Montenotte (SV). Tell us something about your studies.”
M: “I started high school in 2018. Mechatronics is a school specialism attended mainly by male students – we were only four girls the entire institute – but it has always meant passion and strong interest to me. Between theoretical knowledge and practical foundations, my studies gave me a lot up to obtaining my diploma in 2023.”

I: “What inspired you to pursue a career in a predominantly male sector?”
M: “Since I was a child, I have always had a strong interest in engines and mechanics. This world intrigued me, I wanted to understand how things were created and what was behind their functioning. Then, I approached technical drawing, and this led me to choose my path of study.”

I: “How did you find the work environment since your arrival at Demont? Did you feel welcomed and supported in your professional career?”
M: “My experience at Demont began with an internship, which turned into employment a few months later. From the very beginning, I felt at ease, welcomed and supported. In a predominantly male sector, the Company and my colleagues have been able to enhance my female figure, something still not taken for granted nowadays.”

I: “What value do you think a female presence like yours adds to the team?”
M: “I consider myself a very organized and tidy person at work. I make my technical knowledge available to the team and offer an often-alternative point of view on the challenges we meet every day.”
